Vir is one of 300 islands in Zadar archipelago, one of 1186 islands in Adriatic sea.
It is located in the northwestern part of dalmatia.
It is 25th island by it's size
It's size is 22 square km, 10,12 km long and 4,25 km wide.
It's coast line measures up to 31,43 km.
Number of sunny hours per year is 2450, which is almost 300 sunny days per year.
Average temperature on Vir is around 15 C, and average temperature in july is around 25 C.
Beaches are mostly sand and gravel surrounded by crystal clear sea.
On some beaches, especially in Sapavac bay, near Venetian fort Kašteline there is peloid mud which is known in reuma treatment.
Because of it's ideal location in Adriatic sea, Vir is a perfect spot for travel, for example, National park Paklenica, Islands of Kornati (200 islands), Krka falls and Plitvička lakes.
Nearby there is also an ancient Croatian royal town of Nin with it's cathedral of Sv.Križa that is the smallest in the world, and 3000 years old city of Zadar who's town core is full of historic monuments.
